Andrew Bathory
Yoga instructor - AndrewBathory@danceology.org -or- yoga@danceology.org
Andrew has always used his body, mind and spirit in unique ways. In his training to become a professional dancer, actor, and vocalist, he learned to move and communicate with great control, flexibility and grace. He was first introduced to Yoga by a modern dance/physical theatre instructor and it opened his eyes to a new potential for personal and spiritual growth. A graduate of the Canadian College of Performing Arts and has studied intensively with Denise Clarke of One Yellow Rabbit. Andrew specializes in physical theatre, hatha yoga, yoga practices for artists and has a strong interest in music therapy. He has a range of teaching experience from working with youth (Age 6-21) through the Confederation Centre for the Arts in Charlottetown, PEI to guerilla style yoga in unusual spaces along Queen Street.
Andrew has been practicing Yoga for 6 years and most recently returned from a 5-month trip to India where he became certified as a Yoga Instructor from the SVYASA Yoga University in Bangalore. It was here that he trained under Dr. H.R Nagendra, Sri Ravi Kulkarni, Dr. Ramachandra G Bhat, and Dr. N V Raghuram.
In India, Andrew studied many classical asanas as well as pranayama practices, kriyas , meditation, stress management and relaxation techniques. He quickly learned that his previous conception of yoga was only a small portion of the actual art/science of mastering one’s mind and body. He is a firm believer that Yoga is not just exercise, but that it is a way of life. He strives to not only lead his community and classes through practices that will benefit them physically, but to also share his knowledge and experience of connecting one’s mind, body and soul, by inspiring others to allow themselves the time and space in their lives to relax and restore.
Andrew is very excited to continue teaching in Toronto on his quest to inspire others to find a deeper sense of self, stillness and happiness in their lives.
